A month ago I got a call...
On the other end of the line was Steve Maxwell. I've known Steve for a long time. He has always been a big supporter of ours and we are very much in line as far as our training philosophies. Steve is the epitome of cutting edge - if there's a new kind of training that looks promising then chances are he has already become an expert in it. So anyhow, the reason Steve was calling was to let me know that after "laying low" for a few years he was jumping back in the game. "I've got a few things I would like you to take a look at," he said. A few days later a mysterious box showed up in the mail. It was chock-full of training DVDs. (A lot of people probably thought Steve was taking it easy when he was out of the public eye...but in truth he has been hard at work.) I dove into that box of DVDs like a starving man at a buffet. The DVD that was right on top was entitled "The Steve Maxwell Ultimate Upper-Body Pull-Up Workout." I only had to watch a few minutes and I didn't have to see anything else... I immediately got Steve back on the phone: "How quickly can I get an order of these in?" - and now we are proud to be a part of Steve Maxwell's "comeback." If you ever wanted to know how a three-time Jiu-Jitsu Champion trains with pull-ups, gymnastic rings, and a number of other unique bodyweight training exercises - I can now show you the answer... |

Pull-ups are one of those classic movements that should be a part of everyone's training program, but there is actually very little training information written
about them, which is a bit strange. In any case, that little problem is now solved with Steve Maxwell's great new DVD.
The DVD begins with a basic overview of why pull-ups and other types of "suspended" exercises are so effective. Then Steve covers a number of safety tips, precautions, and proper fitting instructions to keep in mind for this kind of training... How to "pack" your shoulders in order to utilize your upper body strength to its maximum... You will hear Steve's 4 tips for maintaining shoulder health and stability during workouts... Why you must "pull" your shoulders into the sockets to maintain tension on the upper-body muscles... How to keep the core "tight" during pull-ups and other exercises by engaging the abdominals with a simple drill... Training and progression for the one-arm pull-up... Where you must position your body during one-arm pull-up training... Secrets of using gymnastic rings to assist with one-arm push-ups... The simplest way to perform a "muscle-up"... The pike push-up... The one-arm entension chin... The one-arm twisting row (which is a fantastic exercise)... Three methods of hanging abdominal work... Using gymnastic rings to perform "the Superman"... Enlarging and deepening the chest with the "pec fly"... the finer points of the "tactical" pull-up... Two grips used for suspended ring pullups...
