Question: What about the possibility of getting a rope with a diameter thicker than 2 inches?

    Answer:

1-1/2 or 2 inch diameter rope is challenging enough by itself to climb, even by trained professionals. Anything greater than that in diameter is not necessary and/or too difficult to use for training purposes.

Check out the two pictures I've included below, in which I demonstrate the grip I can get when using a 1-1/2 inch and a 2 inch rope. I have fairly large hands, and as you can see, the 2 inch rope already widens my grip enough to make climbing a significantly greater challenge.

    VS.
Gripping a 2 inch diameter rope

As you can see, the grip must already be widened significantly to be able to climb the 2 inch rope - anything bigger would be impractical for training. If you have any more questions about rope diameter or are ready to place an order, give us a call at 1-800-978-0206 or click here.
